022Haworth Moor, Op.110Arthur Butterworth
Outer cover of item Haworth Moor, Op.110SATB and piano

In 1969 Butterworth had set poems of Emily Brontë in 'Night Wind' but in more recent years he has rarely ventured into the field of choral music. Here, thirty years later he returns to the world of the Brontë sisters which had always fascinated and inspired him. The choral writing is imaginative and passionate, and an important role for the piano adds to the colour and drama of the work.

If multiple copies are required, please ask us for a quotation.

Duration c.16 minutes.

169This WorldJohn Hawkins
Outer cover of item This WorldChoir and two trumpets

The composer was inspired to write 'This World' whilst working at Thames & Hudson with the poet and Blake scholar Kathleen Raine on her book about William Blake 'The Human Face of God: William Blake and the Book of Job'. It was her passion for Blake that suggested this and several other pieces including 'Urizen' (viola and piano), 'Fuzon' (String Quartet) and 'Rintrah Roars' (voice, harp and piano).

'This World' was commissioned and first performed by the choir 'Cryes of London' and subsequently broadcast by the BBC Singers. It is scored for choir, with two soprano soloists and two trumpets.

Multiple copies of the choral score are available for hire.

Duration c.12 minutes.
